A good friend of mine recommended I watch a series from PBS’ Masterpiece Theater called, “Poldark”. Little did she know that the main character represents my favorite hero archetype – the Warrior Poet. The Warrior Poet is a person who is earthy, physically strong, sensitive and who will rebel against societal norms in order to support social justice and the underdog. When I was contemplating this hero after watching a couple of episodes, I realized that the Warrior Poet is who I strive to be. Anyone we cast in the role of hero represents the qualities we deeply hold reverent in the core of our being. Take a look at your heroes and you will see a mirror into your soul.
My heroes reveal the hero that lies within me. I recognize the valor and courage that is at the center of my being, and I give it a voice to express through me and as me.
